Odoo version 18 is more convenient, more fun, more beautiful but really different in various aspects.
Therefore our tip: test well before you migrate!

You can have a push notification enabled for All Chats. push melding ingeschakeld hebben.

Great idea! But be careful: Odoo SA will promote version 18 starting January 2025. If you have the push notification enabled, you will receive a message in the chatter that you can migrate to version 18 directly with just one click, without testing beforehand. Our advice: do not do this, ALWAYS TEST FIRST!  

Why, among other things?

Settings have changed: For example, the Documents app has a different structure. If you are used to uploading an invoice and clicking on the 'Create Vendor Invoice' action in the right box, that is now different. This option no longer exists! To make actions like creating vendor invoices available again:

  • Go to the folder.
  • Click at the top on the radar-button.
  • Go to Actions and check the action 'Create Supplier Invoice'.
  • The action now appears at the top (no longer on the right) and can be selected there.



Changes in functionality: For example, accounts receivable management can now be managed at the contact level. Additionally, an extra field has been added to the Invoicing screen: 'Amount Due'. Note: other workflows may also be noticeably different from what you are used to. Check and test your processes thoroughly to avoid unexpected surprises.

To successfully embrace these changes, testing is essential!

  1. Feel free to request a test migration to database 18
    You can do this together with us if needed. 
  2. Thoroughly test the test database
    Check all your daily processes. We are ready to help you with the new and changed functionalities, such as:
    • Use of WhatsApp.
    • Barcode scanning.
    • AI capabilities.
    • Quote calculator.
    • And much more!
  3. Inform your users
    This is an ideal time to organize a general training on the use of Odoo.
  4. Only request the migration to version 18 to your production/live database when you are sure that everything works well in the test environment. 

So yes, switch to version 18 this year but do it consciously and planned.. doing it together? then request now!
